(Baked Good) of the Week: Cranberry-Orange Scones

Mmmmmm… These are made from Jamie Oliver’s recipe (here it is online, but I got it from our Food Revolution cookbook– as usual!), with dried cranberries substituted for dried cherries and raisins, and the addition of orange zest.

They’re buttery and barely sweet, like a wonderful biscuit. We eat them hot from the oven with butter (or clotted cream, if we can get it) and jam. One of the best parts about them is the freeze wonderfully (before they’re cooked) so I make a batch, bake us a couple, then wrap the rest up in plastic wrap in pairs and freeze. Whenever we want scones, it’s just 15 minutes in a 400 degree oven and BAM! Scone-y goodness.
